What is ENVI?
ENVI is Australia’s first range of 100% Carbon Neutral Papers.
ENVI offers companies an effective way to contribute to the
reduction in global warming.
The ENVI range is accredited through the Australian Greenhouse
Friendly Program and is certified by the Australian Government’s
Department of Climate Change (DCC). This program ensures only
Government certified products and services are mandated as
Carbon Neutral without fear of green washing.
ENVI offers the same technical and quality attributes associated
with current Australian Paper grades with the added benefit
of being Carbon Neutral. This means that the associated
greenhouse gas emissions have been calculated and offset with
Carbon Credits purchased through accredited carbon abatement
providers.
What are the benefits of ENVI?
Provides an instant, low cost, Government certified Carbon Solution
- Is accredited by the Department of Climate Change
- Is Australian made
- Is relevant to National Greenhouse and Energy reporting
- Genuinely contributes to a reduction in Global Warming
- Gives you access to the Greenhouse Friendly Consumer Logo
to show that you are taking action against climate change.
Is ENVI Coated just Impress with Carbon Credits?
Part A: No. ENVI Coated has been through a rigorous and
independently verified Life Cycle Analysis (LCA). This means its
carbon impact is exactly defined. From here, significant initiatives
have been undertaken to reduce the total Energy usage and
Carbon emission associated with its manufacture. Our move
from oil to gas fired boilers is one such initiative. Only then, are
“Greenhouse Friendly” Carbon Credits purchased to off-set the
balance of Carbon Dioxide remaining. This process must and is
audited annually in order to maintain the Department of Climate
Change Greenhouse FriendlyTM accreditation.
Part B: ENVI Coated is physically and tangibly the same
paper as Impress.
What is Carbon Neutral?
Carbon Neutral describes products, operations and activities
which have had their greenhouse gas emissions:
1 Measured
2 Calculated (in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent), then
3‘ Offset’ through the purchase of Carbon Credits that fund additive,
emission-free energy projects like wind and solar power generation.
How is ENVI Carbon Neutral?
The greenhouse gas emissions from all the input/output energy
used to make ENVI have been measured in tonnes, converted
to equivalent carbon dioxide tonnes and then offset with Carbon
Credits purchased from providers accredited by the Department
of Climate Change.
How do I know ENVI is actually Carbon Neutral?
To receive certification from the Department of Climate Change,
the ENVI manufacturing process received a rigorous assessment
conducted by an independent third party. This verification ensures
that ENVI’s carbon neutral claim is true and accurate and permits
the use of the Greenhouse FriendlyTM Consumer Logo.
How are ENVI’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions Offset?
ENVI’s greenhouse gases are offset by the purchase of Carbon
Credits. These credits are matched against the amount of
greenhouse gases emitted from the energy used in the production
of ENVI. As ENVI is certified by the Department of Climate Change,
ENVI’s Carbon Credits must be purchased from an abatement
provider approved by the DCC. Currently ENVI’s Carbon Credits
are purchased from Veolia, a Victorian based company that makes
garden mulch from green waste that would otherwise go into
Australian land fill.
What is a Carbon Footprint?
A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions generated from a business, product or service expressed in tonnes
of carbon dioxide equivalent.
Will ENVI reduce my Carbon Footprint?
Generally ENVI will not reduce a company’s carbon footprint
because all of the associated greenhouse gas emissions have
already been offset. However, ENVI can be referred to as another
initiative of your company to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act.
Corporates will be given the option (under “scope 3” reporting)
to report any voluntary initiatives introduced to minimize their total
environmental impact.
