The Pearce Proposal
Almost every Australian would like to see a greater degree of honesty in our federal political system.
This can be achieved by adopting the small change to our political processes I am putting forward as the “Pearce Proposal”.
I propose that Australia become a Republic with an elected Head of State who has the power to refuse to give assent any act of parliament that is in significant conflict with a promise given by the government to the people during the course of an election. Such a power of veto in the hands of an elected Head of State would ensure a greater level of honesty from political parties seeking to win an election and form a government.

He served on numerous industry Boards and Committees as well as being President of the Zone C PFA for thirteen years. Outside of the fishing industry Keith was active in the community. He served on the Wanneroo Shire Council as a Councillor and Council President in the 1980s when it was the second largest local government authority in Western Australia and the fastest growing metropolitan area in Australia.
