Born in the coastal town of Dover, Edward began his career working in the motor trade, a path he followed for many years. He also served as a Special Constable in both Kent and Cornwall for seven years. In 1969, he emigrated to Australia with his wife and children, where he spent three years writing for a farming newspaper in Western Australia. After retiring in 2007, he and his wife moved to France. They returned a year later to live in Victoria. They now live in Perth, Western Australia.
